How to Put a No-Slip Grip on a Snap Clip
Boutique bows made from ribbons and flowers will add style and pretty touches to girls' hair. Making your own boutique bows saves money and allows you to create bows that match outfits. A common problem with bows happens when the clips slip from thin or fine hair. To solve this issue, put a no-slip grip on a snap grip before you attach the bow to the clip.
Things You'll Need
- 1/2-inch wide grosgrain ribbon
- Scissors
- Seam sealant
- No-slip grip (1-inch long and 1/4-inch wide)
- Hot glue gun
- 2-inch long snap clip
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut a 4 1/8-inch long piece of ribbon. Seal the ends of the ribbon with a seam sealant.
-
2
Place the ribbon right side up on a flat surface.
-
-
3
Peel the adhesive backing from the no-slip grip and attach it to the ribbon. Center the no-slip grip between the top and bottom edges of ribbon and align it at the left edge of the ribbon.
-
4
Plug in the glue gun and wait for it to heat.
-
5
Open the snap clip and hold it upside down so that the bottom faces up. Insert the no-slip edge of ribbon into the clip so that the wrong side of the ribbon touches the inside edge of the top of the clip. Push the edge of the ribbon into the clip as far as possible and snap the clip closed.
-
6
Turn the clip over and spread an even layer of hot glue over the top edge.
-
7
Pull the ribbon around to the top edge of the clip and press it down on top of the glue. The glue will adhere the ribbon to the top of the clip as well as the ribbon on the underside of the top of the clip.
-
8
Stretch the ribbon along the entire top of the clip and turn the clip back over.
-
9
Place a small amount of glue on the remaining tab of ribbon.
-
10
Press the remaining ribbon onto the underside of the snap flip. Allow the glue to dry completely.
