How to Troubleshoot a SoundDock Series II

The Bose SoundDock Series II is a speaker system with an award-winning design. It offers out-of-the-box compatibility with most of Apple's iPod and iPhone models. If your SoundDock isn't working, you may be able to solve the problem yourself before calling customer support. Most problems can be solved in a couple of simple steps.

No Sound

  • Confirm the Bose SoundDock is plugged in.

  • Try a different outlet.

  • Press the "Play/Pause" button on the remote.

  • Increase your iPod's volume. Depending on the model, do this by rotating the touch wheel clockwise, or pressing the top of the two buttons on the side.

  • Increase the volume on the SoundDock by pressing the circular "+" button on the right side of the unit.

  • Remove the iPod from the dock and wait five seconds. Insert the iPod back in the dock and try again.

  • Reset the unit by unplugging it for one minute before plugging it back in.

Remote Problems.

  • Remove the iPod from the dock. Wait five seconds and replace it.

  • Try the remote from a different location.

  • Wipe the remote with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Clear anything that may obstruct the path between the remote and the SoundDock.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the iPod has four buttons above the touch wheel, it is not compatible with the SoundDock. While it will play when docked, it will not charge.
