Things You'll Need

  • Target
  • Prepare a target at a distance of approximately 30 feet. Carefully aim at your target and shoot three well-controlled shots. Check your target and mark the center of your shot group.

  • Estimate the necessary correction to move your shot group to the location where you where aiming. For example, if your shot group is two inches below and one inch to the right of the center of your target, then you need to adjust your scope one inch to the left and two inches up.

  • Adjust the windage and elevation of your scope's crosshairs with the adjustment dials on the top and right hand side of your scope. Rotate the top adjustment dial clockwise for down or counterclockwise for up; rotate the right side adjustment dial clockwise for left or counterclockwise for right. After you have made adjustments, repeat the process to fine tune your scope.

  • Prepare a new target at a longer range of approximately 75 feet. Repeat the sighting-in process until you are satisfied.
