How to Do a Three-Way Video Chat in Oovoo

Save

While three-way calling is often accepted as a professional and casual way of communicating with multiple people, video chat offers the opportunity for individuals to connect on a more personal level. By using ooVoo's three-way video chat, you can talk with other people through a webcam. If the people you wish to talk to do not have an ooVoo account, you can still invite them through other methods, such as sending an email link or inviting them through other video chat applications.

  • Download and install ooVoo from oovoo.com. Click "Free Download" once the homepage appears. During the installation process, you'll need to create an ooVoo account if you don't already have one. Your account serves as a way for potential contacts to identify you on ooVoo.

  • Launch the ooVoo application. Sign in with your ooVoo account, if you don't have the automatic sign in feature enabled. Click the "Actions" button at the top of the screen. Select "Enter my Video Chat Room.

  • Click the blue "Add to Call" button at the top right. Click "ooVoo contacts" and choose the person you want to invite, if you wish to hold a video chat with one of your ooVoo contacts. You can add more than one caller.

  • Click the "Video call" link, if you wish to video chat with someone who does not have ooVoo. Enter the person's email address. Once the person accesses his email and clicks the link from ooVoo, his browser will automatically load ooVoo's video chat application.

  • Click "Skype," if you want to video chat with one of your Skype contacts. Launch the Skype application, and click "Connect" on the ooVoo video chat screen. A Skype dialog box will appear. Click "Allow Access" and choose which contact you wish to invite.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also video chat with someone who has a cell phone by clicking "Phone," but only if the person has a camera on the front of his phone.
