Wash clothing with zippers regularly to keep dirt and debris from building up and eroding the zipper or clogging the track of the zipper. Zippers can become stuck part way or may not stay securely in place if there is debris in the track.

Lubricate the zipper with a zipper-specific lubricant. Move the zipper up and down to work in the lubrication.
Wipe away any excess with a rag. A lubricated zipper will go up and down smoothly and will better stay in place.
