Zipper care is important for functional and safety purposes. A zipper going down on a pair of pants or a dress is embarrassing, a zipper going down on your wetsuit could pose more serious problems. Keeping your zippers from going down requires regular cleaning and zipper-specific lubrication.

Instructions

1. Wash clothing with zippers regularly to keep dirt and debris from building up and eroding the zipper or clogging the track of the zipper. Zippers can become stuck part way or may not stay securely in place if there is debris in the track.

2. Lubricate the zipper with a zipper-specific lubricant. Move the zipper up and down to work in the lubrication.

   Wipe away any excess with a rag. A lubricated zipper will go up and down smoothly and will better stay in place.

3. Zip up and ensure that the tab is pointed downward, parallel to the zipper track. This will help to keep the zipper up.
