How to Edit a Birthday on Facebook

Your birthday is shown at the top of your profile.

While your birthday does not have to be displayed on your Facebook profile, allowing friends to see it will remind them to send you a message when it rolls around. If you make a mistake when you initially fill out your birth date information, don't worry--like anything else on your profile, your birthday can be edited quite easily. You can amend your birthday and its privacy settings at any time.

Instructions

1. Log into your Facebook account and click on the "Profile" link in the top right corner of the screen.

2. Click the gray "Edit Profile" icon on the right side of your profile page.

3. Click on the "Basic Information" tab, located on the left column of the screen.

4. Use the grey downward arrows to bring up drop-down menus for the month, date and year of your birthday--each part of your birthday is edited separately. For example, if you only need to change your birth year, only use the drop-down menu next to the year field. Choose a new month, day or year from the drop-down list by clicking it once.

5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes."

Tips & Warnings

• Use the drop-down menu right under the birthday field to determine if you show your entire birthday on your profile, only the day and month or if the birthday is hidden entirely.
