How to Set Up Pages for a Business or Organization on Facebook
A Facebook page can be invaluable as a peripheral to your business's main website. Not only is it easy for users to "Like" a Facebook page, but it also gives you the opportunity to share insights, relevant links and details about your organization with a larger base than that of a website or newsletter alone. Creating a Facebook page is free.

1
Go to the Facebook home page (facebook.com) and click "Create a Page." You will be offered six types of pages: local business or place; company, organization or institution; brand or product; artist, band or public figure; entertainment; and cause or community. Select the one most relevant to you.
-
2
Click to select a category from the drop-down box. Fill in your page name and agree to Facebook's Page Terms before continuing.
-
-
3
Click "Get Started." This creates your page, which at this point has no information other than your category and name. Click the "Edit Page" button.
-
4
Change permissions on the "Manage Permissions" section. You can set an age restriction for your content, as well as country restrictions, and even set it so that only admins can view the page. You can also blacklist abusive users and ban certain swear words from the page.
-
5
Click "Your Settings" on the left sidebar to manage email and posting preferences for your Facebook page.
-
6
Click "Basic Information" to set the information and details of your page. This is where you set a username for your page, if you want to use one, as well as a brief biography, business address, email address, website and contact phone number. You can set your profile picture by clicking "Profile Picture" on the sidebar.
-
7
Use either "Featured" or "Marketing" to help promote your page and visibility. "Featured" allows you to feature certain likes and users on your page; using the Like system can help other users on Facebook find your page via the things you like. "Marketing" offers features for sharing your Facebook page on your website, as well as advertising on Facebook and sending your page information to your email contacts.
-
8
Add and manage page administrators in "Manage Admins."
-
9
Set up applications on your page under "Apps." This is where you can view third-party authorized applications, such as TweetDeck or HootSuite, as well as Facebook applications, such as Notes, Video and Discussion Boards. You can remove any application by clicking the gray "X" box at the far end of the application box, and you can edit settings by clicking the "Edit Settings" link below the application title.
