How to Get a Quick Claw in "Pokémon SoulSilver"
The Quick Claw is featured in various "Pokémon" games, including "Pokémon SoulSilver." Although you do not need it to complete the game, it does provide you with an advantage in Pokémon battles, insofar as it allows Pokémon to occasionally act first in fights, regardless of their speed. In "Pokémon SoulSilver," you receive the Quick Claw from a woman in the National Park after you talk to her -- but before you talk to her, you must first compete in the bug catching competition.

Head north from Goldenrod City to reach Route 35.

Follow Route 35 north until you see a building. Defeat any rival Pokémon trainers who challenge you to a Pokémon battle. Rival Pokémon trainers will challenge you automatically if you walk in front of them.

Enter the building and talk to the man standing to the right of the counter on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday (in terms of in-game time). Select "Yes" when he asks if you would like to enter the bug-catching competition. You will be given 20 Competition Balls, which are used to catch bug Pokémon.

Compete in the bug-catching competition by exiting through the eastern-most door to the National Park and then heading north until you reach the tall grass.

Walk through the tall grass to encounter bug Pokémon. Use your Competition Balls to catch them. The competition ends automatically after 20 minutes.

Once the competition ends, exit and then re-enter the National Park from the door you used to first enter it.

Head east until you see a woman standing next to a large cat. Talk to her and she will give you the Quick Claw.

Tips & Warnings
Equip the Quick Claw to powerful Pokémon with low speed, such as Snorlax, to make them more formidable in Pokémon battles.
You can only equip the Quick Claw to a single Pokémon at any given time.
