The UPS Store
Visit The UPS Store online (theupsstore.com) and click on the "Locations" button at the top left of the page.
Click on the "Country" box and select "United States". Enter your address into the "Address" box, your city into the "City" box, state into the "State" box and your zip code into the "Zip Code" box. Click on the "Show Pack & Ship Promise locations only" or "Show Corporate Retail Solutions participating locations only" boxes, if applicable. Click the "Find" button to search for the UPS locations nearest to you that have the private mailbox option.
Visit your local UPS Store in person and discuss opening a private mailbox with an employee. You will need to present two forms of identification, one of which must have a photo, and proof of residence such as a utility bill.
Read over the mailbox service agreement, sign it and pay the fee. The amount depends on the type of mailbox. Also, each UPS Store is a franchise so the prices can vary.
American Post Box
Log on to the American Post Box website (americanpostbox.com) and click on the "Form 1583 USPS" and "APB Application Form" links under the "Download the 2 forms below:" text. You need these two forms along with two forms of identification and proof of residence such as a utility bill.
Print out the "Form 1583 USPS" and "APB Application Form" documents and fill them out. Sign the forms at the bottom of the page.
Take the forms along with your two pieces of identification and proof of insurance to a notary public to have them verified. You may also have your documents verified by the local city hall in your state region. An official notary from the city hall offices will look at your documents for originality and sign them after they have witnessed you sign the documents. Verify that the notary seal and signature are on all of the forms and documents.
Mail the documents to the American Post Box office. The address is 815 N. La Brea, Inglewood, CA 90302. Once you have mailed the documents, the American Post Box company will open an account for you and include a box number. You can have your mail forwarded from the American Post Box company to another mailing address such as the American Post Box company is in California.
Visit the Mailboxes Unlimited website (mailboxesunlimited.com) and click on the "Apply Online" link at the bottom of the page.
Read the Terms and Conditions, fill in your personal and credit card information.
Click on the "I Agree To Terms And Conditions" button at the bottom of the page to submit your information. You will be contacted within 24 hours with your private mailbox address and number. you can forward mail from this location to another mailing address.
