How to Start a Shindaiwa T350 Gas Weed Eater

Save

The condition of a lawn is a reflection of the care and attention a homeowner gives to the rest of the property. Trimming the hard-to-reach spots in the lawn effectively requires a quality, reliable tool. The Shindaiwa T350 Gas Weed Eater fills that need for many homeowners. According to Shindaiwa, its gas trimmers have engines that are on the cutting edge of two-cycle technology, but any engine is useless unless the operator knows how to start it.

Things You'll Need

  • Premium two-cycle oil
  • Gas can
  • Gasoline
  • Shop rag
  • Combine premium two-cycle oil and 87-octane unleaded gasoline in a gas can at a ratio of 50 parts gas to one part premium two-cycle oil. Place the Shindaiwa T350 on a flat surface and unscrew the gas cap counterclockwise. Fill the fuel tank with the gasoline/oil mixture. Replace the gas cap on the fuel tank and turn it clockwise until the cap is tight. Wipe spilled fuel with a shop rag before attempting to start the engine.

  • Slide the on/off switch, located on the shaft, forward to the "on" position. Depress the carburetor primer bulb, located just above the gas cap on the left side of the engine, several times until fuel runs through the transparent overflow tube. Engage the choke by pushing the choke lever, located on the top left side of the engine, all the way up.

  • Lock the throttle on high idle by pressing the lock lever down and pulling the throttle lever all the way up while pushing the throttle lock button in. Release the lock lever and the throttle after the throttle lock button is engaged.

  • Grasp the outer tube with one hand and slowly pull the handle of the starter rope with your other hand until the starter engages, then pull fast. Be careful not to pull the starter rope to the end of its travel because this could damage the starter mechanism.

  • Push the choke lever down slowly after the engine fires. Do not push the choke lever down too fast or the engine may die. When the choke lever is all the way down, squeeze the throttle to disengage the throttle lock.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear safety glasses when operating power equipment.
