How to Install a Rainmeter Theme

Windows 7 offers a number of personalization options, including customizable backgrounds and functional desktop gadgets. You may want even more options, in which case Rainmeter themes may be a good choice. Rainmeter enhances your desktop with floating applets, similar to Microsoft gadgets. They allowing you to monitor battery life, manage notes and track RSS streams, but they meld more seamlessly into the desktop for a sleek look. Installing a new theme takes just a few minutes.

      Download the theme to your desktop.

      Extract the theme if it is packaged in a ".zip" or ".rar" file. Most themes are compressed to save hard drive space. Right-click on the folder and select "Extract All."

      Click and drag your cursor over all the downloaded files to select them. Press and hold the "Ctrl" key. Press the "C" key. Let go of the "Ctrl" key. The theme files are now copied to your clipboard.

      Open your "Documents" folder. Click "Rainmeter." Click "Skins."

      Right-click in the "Skins" window and select "Paste." Your new theme pack will paste into the folder for use with Rainmeter.

      Start Rainmeter. Click "Configs" to view and use the new skin. If Rainmeter was already running, click "Refresh All" to make the new skin show up.
