How to Automatically Sync an iPod With iTunes

Save

By default, iTunes is set to sync automatically with your iPod when you connect the device to your computer. If iTunes does not sync automatically with your iPod when connected, chances are you've disabled the automatic sync feature. Set the iTunes sync preferences back to the default setting to re-enable the feature. That way, you won't have to sync the iPod manually to the iTunes program.

  • Open iTunes on your computer.

  • Click the "Edit" menu at the top of the interface window. Select "Preferences" from the drop-down list that appears. The Preferences dialog box will open.

  • Click the "Devices" tab at the top of the dialog box. The Devices pane will open.

  • Uncheck the box next to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads From Syncing Automatically."

  • Click the "OK" button. The Preferences dialog box will close.

  • Connect the iPod to your computer using the iPod USB dock cable. ITunes will detect the device and begin to sync automatically.
