How to Write a Cover Letter for a Medical Job Application
A cover letter for a medical application should give a glimpse into your skills and abilities for the position. The most successful cover letters are a page or less and simple. They entice a potential medical employer to want to know more about you. When you are writing your cover letter for a medical job application, consider a few key guidelines.

1
Start with a professional salutation and a reminder of the position for which you are applying. You might try "My name is Jane Doe and I am applying for the Medical Assisting position in the Joe Schmoe Digestive Clinic."
-
2
Write a paragraph about why you want the position. This is where you can also include something about your previous career successes. This gives the employer a quick overview of your standout qualities and what you feel you can bring to the position. You might say "This position is a great match with my particular skill set. I am organized, patient-oriented and knowledgeable about XYZ industry. For example, in my previous position, I redesigned the intake chart to make it more efficient to get incoming patients through the check-out process (or whatever specific accomplishment you want to list here)."

3
Provide an accounting of your experience. This is where you give a quick hit on your medical experience; this is not a recap of your resume. Focus on the medical skills that relate to the specific position for which you are applying. For example, if you are applying to be a nurse, the skills you overview in your cover letter should be related to nursing.
-
4
Close the letter with a call to action. This encourages the prospective employer to contact you for an interview. You might say "I would love to chat with you in person to gauge how well a fit this position is for both of us. Could we could meet and possibly interview in the next few weeks? I look forward to hearing from you."
