1
Connect the MX700 using a network cable. To allow for network printing, the MX700 must be connected via a Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable that is directly connected to either a network hub, port or router. Once connected, the print server will identify the MX700 as a printer and ask whether or not you want to install the print drivers for the printer.
-
2
Select "Yes" when asked to install the MX700 into the print server. Depending on the operating system of your network print server, the print drivers will either be automatically installed or you will be instructed to load the print drivers. The print drivers can be accessed either on the installation disc that shipped with the MX700 or can be downloaded directly from the Canon Support page.

3
Assign an IP address for the MX700. To do so, open the printer properties of the MX700. The properties of the MX700 can be accessed by going to your "Control Panel" in Windows-based computers and selecting "Printers" from the available list of options. Double-click the icon for the MX700 and select the "Properties" tab that will be across the top of the printer dialog box.
-
4
Install print drivers on all computers for which you want to have printing access to the MX700. Using the same print driver as in Step 2, install the drivers on each computer.
-
5
Enter the IP address of the MX700 into the printer Properties box. While the print drivers are being installed, you will be prompted to input the pre-assigned IP address that you designated in Step 3. Click "Okay" or "Apply" once the IP address has been correctly entered to complete the installation.
-
6
Send test prints from each computer to make sure the installation was successful.
