How to Make Shoe Covers for a Peter Pan Costume
The playwright J.M. Barrie created Peter Pan, the fantastical, fearless flying boy who never wanted to grow up, in the play of the same name. If you want to create a realistic Peter Pan costume, your ensemble is not going to work unless you have a suitable pair of shoes, as modern sneakers or boots simply will not work. While certain films have portrayed Peter Pan as barefoot, creating a simple felt shoe covering is one way to give your costume a more finished look.
Things You'll Need

1
Measure the length and width of the shoes you plan on covering. Cut a piece of felt 4 inches longer than the length and width of the shoes.
-
2
Put on the shoes. Wrap each shoe in the piece of felt, holding the felt locked around your ankle with one hand. This is where your drawstring will go. Mark the location of your finger with a pencil.

Punch holes along this edge of each piece of felt with a hole puncher, spacing the holes 1/2 inch or 1 inch apart. Cut an 18-inch piece of brown or green yarn and thread it in and out of each hole.

Pull the ends of the yarn together and tie them in a knot of bow. Carefully remove the shoes, now covered in felt. Turn the shoes over and make some grid marks with rubber cement at the bottom of each sole. Allow them to dry overnight. This will give you traction and prevent you from slipping.
