How to Tag Faces in Picasa

How to Tag Faces in Picasa thumbnail
Identify faces of people in your photos in Picasa.

Picasa is Google's free desktop application and online photo management service. Picasa scans your pictures and identifies people with its face-matching technology, helping you save time tagging faces in your photos. Picasa uses the names of faces you have already tagged and applies them as suggested name tags to new photos of what it determines are the same faces. Picasa creates a photo album for each person to help you categorize them and tag faces in your photos. You can easily tag the faces in your photos in Picasa.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Picasa on your computer if you want to use the desktop version. Go to the Picasa website (picasaweb.google.com) and log in to your account if you want to use the online version.

    • 2

Click the "People Collection" in Picasa and then click the "Unnamed People" album to see thumbnails of every one of your unnamed photos. If there are three people's faces in one photo, for example, Picasa shows you thumbnails of each person. Click "Add a Name" under a face and type the person's name to tag it.

    • 3

Click "Add a Name" under a face. Type a name to tag the face.

    • 4

Look for an orange question mark icon next to a person's photo album, which indicates that Picasa has suggestions for you to confirm to tag a name to a face. Click the green check mark icon to keep the photo in the album or click the red "X" icon to remove the suggested photo from the album if it does not depict the right person. Picasa puts the photo you remove into the "Unnamed People" album for you to identify later. Click "Confirm All" if all the suggestions are correct to add tags to all the photos.
