Things You'll Need

• Plain elasticated headband
• Decorations
• Paper
• Pencil
• Tailors chalk
• Needle
• Thread
• Glue
• Camera (optional)

1. 

   Beads are a great addition to your headband.

   Look for design inspiration. For ideas, you can find a celebrity style to copy, or look in fashion magazines and in stores. From flowers and feathers to beads and sequins, the possibilities really are endless. Drawing or sketching your design can be a great help when you start to make your headband.

2. 

   Some simple preparation can make a big difference to the quality of your design.

   Lay your plain headband onto a flat surface. Arrange your chosen design onto the headband. Do not attach any decor at this stage. When everything is in place, mark the beginning and end of your design with tailors chalk. It also helps to take a photograph of your arrangement using your camera phone. This makes the design much easier to recreate when you start to attach your decorations.

3. 

   Decorations can be sewn or glued to your band.

   Sew and stick your chosen design to the headband. Use your photograph as a guide to make sure that your ideas are recreated exactly. It is best to sew wherever possible. This ensures a cleaner finish and longer lasting design. Some materials/adornments are not suitable for sewing. In this case, use a strong and suitable glue.

4. 

   Check out your trendy new headband.
