Open your Internet browser and visit the Google homepage.

Check if you are already logged in to Google. If you are logged in, your email address should appear at the top right of the homepage. If you are not logged in, click on "Sign in" and supply the username and password associated with your Google account. You can also choose to create a new account.

Click on the "Change background image" link at the bottom left of your Google homepage.

Select in the left pane the method you wish to use to choose a picture. You can choose a picture from your hard drive, a picture you have previously uploaded to the Picasa website, a picture from Google's public gallery or a picture recommended by Google.

Confirm your selection by clicking on the "Select" button.
