How Can I Check the Status of My Tennessee Unemployment Claim?

An unemployment claim is an ongoing process. You file your initial claim and then a claim for each week you receive benefits. As your claim continues, you may have questions about the status, including whether it's active and how much compensation you have left for the year. If you live in Tennessee, the Department of Labor and Workforce Development manages your claim and makes the status available through its own online claim system.

Instructions

1. Access the Tennessee unemployment claims sites (see Resources). Click "View Benefits/Update Information."

2. Click "Continue." Enter your last name, Social Security number and PIN in the spaces provided. Click "Login."

3. View in the information about your current claim, including its status and the remaining compensation amount.

4. Click "Logout" and close the browser window to avoid anyone else seeing your sensitive information.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also called the claims line [phone] and navigate the automated system to ask about your claim. However, the DLWD recommends you use the Internet and even offers computer stations at its local career centers (see Resources).
