How to Make Your Internet Speed Fast
The Internet, a collection of computer networks connected through telephone wires, broadband cable and satellites, is used to share everything from email to videos to text. If it is taking too long a time to download a file or view a Web page, your Internet tools may be to blame. Although there may be many reasons for a decrease in Internet speed, making a few slight adjustments to your router, Web browser and connectivity method may be your best options to speeding up your Internet connection.

1
Connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable rather than establishing a wireless connection. Since wireless connection speeds depend on your computer's wireless adapter cards, location of the router and the number of users, connecting your computer or laptop directly to the router with an Ethernet cable can greatly increase connection speeds.

2
Download and install a good browser that protects against bad websites and illegitimate software installations. Viruses and spyware greatly decrease the overall performance of your computer, which directly affects your Internet speed. Insecure browsers such as Internet Explorer and AOL are notorious for poor security against suspected websites and the download of software that contains spyware. FireFox and Google Chrome are two free browsers that block unauthorized add-ons by third party websites and both have strong security features and configurations.

Purchase a better wireless router. Although high-speed routers can be expensive, an outdated router can slow down your Internet speed. Visit your local or online electronic retailer and purchase an 802.11g wireless router for your home. With the 802.11g router, add more computers to the network without sacrificing connection speeds.
