How to Remove a Sort in Excel 2007

Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet software allows the user to create custom lists for sorting data. While Excel can automatically arrange data in alphabetical or numerical order, it doesn't know, for example, the chronological order of the volumes of Proust, or of the Beatles' albums. You can create custom sorting lists to help Excel sort a pool of data, and you can also delete such lists through the "Custom Lists" dialog box.

  • Click the "Office" button at the top left of the Excel interface, then click "Excel Options," "Popular" and "Edit Custom Lists." In versions of Excel earlier than 2007, click "Tools," "Options," then "Custom Lists."

  • Click the list you want to delete to select it.

  • Click "Delete," then click "OK."
