DHL is a delivery company that provides domestic and international express shipping services. To ensure that an item reaches its destination in the same condition that it was sent in, the item must be packaged in a way that minimizes the risk of damage while in transit. All the necessary items that are needed to securely pack an item for safe shipping are available from DHL.

Things You'll Need

  • Corrugated cardboard box
  • Bubble wrap
  • Shredded paper
  • Packing tape
  • DHL waybill

Wrap the item to be shipped in bubble wrap so that all sides and surfaces are covered. Repeat until the bubble wrap is three layers thick, and then secure the bubble wrap around the item using packing tape.

Put shredded paper in the corrugated cardboard box so that cushioning layer is created. Place the bubble wrapped item into the cardboard box. Put more shredded paper in the cardboard box so that the item is cushioned on all sides.

Place copies of any shipment paperwork inside the cardboard box in case paperwork attached to the outside of the box is lost.

Use packing tape to seal the top of the cardboard box, and then use packing tape to seal all the seams of the cardboard box so that the package is secure.

Label the cardboard box with the word “FRAGILE” if the contents are fragile, and add a label saying “THIS SIDE UP” with an arrow indicating the direction if correct orientation of the package is required.

Attach the DHL waybill and all shipment information to the top of the cardboard box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use more bubble wrap and shredded paper for added protection if the item is fragile.
  • If cardboard box is used, ensure all previous addresses, labels and paperwork are removed.
  • Try to avoid using masking tape or duct tape to seal the package.
