How to Assemble an IKEA Leksvik Twin Toddler Bed

Save

Ikea is a furniture manufacturing company that has stores throughout Europe and the United States. Many pieces of furniture, such as the Leksvik twin toddler bed, require at-home assembly. Some Ikea stores have employees who will put furniture together for you. However, if you are assembling a twin toddler bed on your own, follow the instructions carefully to make sure it is put together properly and will be safe for your child to sleep in.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Press the legs into the edge of the sides by lining up the holes in the legs with the pegs on the bed sides. Press hard so that the legs are completely secure in the sides.

  • Press the peg with a hole in it into the hole at the end of the side of the bed side. Slide the longest screw into the hole at the end of the bed side so that the end of the screw fits into the hole. Slide a flat-head screwdriver into the peg so that it doesn't rotate. Tighten the screw with an Allen wrench. Repeat the process on the other side of the bed.

  • Press the side of the bed into the headboard. Press one peg with a hole in it into each of the two holes on the inside of the bed sides. Slide the long screws into the holes in the back of the headboard and screw them into place with an Allen wrench. Hold the peg in place with a flat-head screwdriver as you tighten the screw with the Allen wrench. Repeat the process with the other bed side.

  • Gather the three pieces that make up the bed frame. Press the two pegs at the end of the sides of the frame into the two holes on either end of the end of the frame. Secure the frame by screwing two long screws in the two holes at either end of the bed frame with an Allen wrench.

  • Fit the frame into the bed by pressing the two pegs at the end of the frame sides into the two holes on either side of the inside of the headboard. Press a loose peg into the top hole on both sides of the end of the bed frame. The pegs will help support the frame against the bed's legs.

  • Press a loose peg with a hole in it into the end of the frame. Press a long screw into the side of the bed leg so that it lines up with the hole on the peg. Tighten the screw with an Allen wrench. Repeat the process with the other bed leg.

  • Tighten two screws into the bottom of the back of the headboard with an Allen wrench.

  • Line the other set of the sides up to the bed. Line up three screw holes if you are making the shortest bed. Line up the two screw holes if you are making the medium length bed, and line up one screw hole if you are making the longest bed. Tighten the long screws with an Allen wrench.

  • Attach the footboard to the bottom of the bed by sliding the holed peg into the side of the bed and sliding a long screw into the hole so that it lines up with the hole in the peg. Tighten the screw with an Allen wrench and hole the peg in place with the flat-head screwdriver. Repeat the process with the other side of the peg.

  • Place the loose pegs into the holes on the frame. Place the bed slats over the frame using the pegs to hold them in place.
