Melynda Sorrels

Viscose is a man-made synthetic material, the most common of which being rayon. Sensitive to heat, this soft and springy material may appear to be permanently marred if it gets an oil stain. Quick and aggressive action is in order if you want to save your garment from the rag pile.

  3. Cover the entire stain with baby powder and leave it overnight.

  4. Hold the viscose material item over the trash and brush away the baby powder with your hands.

  5. Rub a grease-fighting liquid dish soap into the stain with a sponge and leave it to sit for 15 minutes.

  6. Launder the viscose material item in warm water. Check the manufacturer’s instructions for specific care instructions for your particular item.

  7. Remove the viscose material item from the washer and look to see if the stain is gone. If it isn’t, treat it with soap again and rewash.
