Quickbooks is a financial management software program made by Intuit. It can create financial spreadsheets, track various financial components of a business, and provide a wide range of calculations capabilities. Files can have automatic calculations that take a data change from a linked program or computer that is then updated in the Quickbook file to reflect the latest financial information. You can add and remove items such as "expense accounts" or "purchases made." However, you can only delete items one at a time so this process needs to be repeated manually for multiple item deletions.
Click on "File" in the upper left side of the Quickbooks window. Select "Switch to Single User Mode."
Select the "Lists" menu item in the top menu bar and select "Item List." Click once on the first item that you want to delete.
Select the "Edit" option in the Quickbooks top menu bar and choose "Delete Item."
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each additional item you want to delete in Quickbooks.
Tips & Warnings
- If the system will not let you switch to Single User mode or delete items, and other individuals are currently accessing the same Quickbooks file, have them select "Save" then "Close" from the "File" menu and exit Quickbooks on their computers. After they have exited, attempt the steps in this article again.
- If you have accidentally deleted an item, immediately click on "Edit" in the top menu bar and choose "Undo Delete Item." You must do this right after the accidental deletion otherwise the item may not be recoverable.
