How to Set Tabs in Wordpad

WordPad is a basic word processor for the Windows operating system. It is not as full featured as Microsoft Word. It does allow you to format text and add graphics to a document. The documents are saved in the Rich Text format. A tab stop is where the cursor stops when you click on the "tab" key on your keyboard. WordPad allows you to set as many tab stops as you prefer.

  • Click on the "Start" menu.

  • Click on the "Accessories" menu option.

  • Click on the "WordPad" menu option to open WordPad.

  • Click on the "Format" menu at the top of the screen.

  • Click on the "Tabs" menu option. This opens the Tabs dialog box.

  • Type the tab stop position, in inches, in the top text box. You can set as many tab stops positions as you prefer.
