How to Add WinZip to a Context Menu

WinZip is a prominent file-compression utility available for Microsoft Windows. The program's primary function is to compress and decompress computer data, such as large-capacity files. Other features include encryption methods that require the use of a password to access any particular file. Due to the varied amount of features, users can implement them into the Windows context menu. As a result, such options are readily available merely by right-clicking the file or folder in question.

  • Launch the WinZip application using administrative privileges. Right-click its main shortcut and select "Run as Administrator." Click "Yes" upon confirmation or enter your Windows account password to continue.

  • Go to the "Settings" tab and click "Options."

  • Click the "Explorer Enhancements" tab. Click the check box stating "Enable Explorer Enhancements (Including Additional Drag and Drop Features)" to enable users to add a desired WinZip feature to the Windows context menu.

  • Click the check boxes next to the WinZip actions you wish to add to the context menu, located under the "Context Menu Commands" field. Sample actions include "Add to Zip," "Extract to" and "Encrypt."

  • Click "OK" to save all changes and add WinZip features to the Windows context menu.
