Select picture frames with removable glass for this DIY project. Choose a picture frame with removable glass. Work with the frame as-is, or apply paint to the outer surface to change the color. If repainting the frame, sand the exterior gently to provide a surface on which the paint will apply evenly, preventing it from future bumps and scratches.

2
Staple screen material to the frame to hang earrings from. Purchase screen material from a local hardware store or use screen taken from an unused window. Apply the screen to the innermost part of the back of the picture frame with a staple gun. Ensure that the frame is wide enough that the staples will not penetrate through the front side of the frame.

Choose fabric to apply to the back of the earring-tree frame. Remove any excess screen material with scissors. Apply a fabric backing to the screened frame. This optional addition can provide a colorful or printed background to the screen material. Secure the fabric to the back of the frame, applying it at the outermost point with a hot glue gun. Trim off any additional material that may hang past the outer edge of the frame.
