How to Relisten to Past Voice Messages on Your iPhone

Unlike many cellphones, the iPhone lets you visually scroll through old voice mail messages on the device's touch-screen. Instead of having to listen to a series of old messages to get to the one that you want, you can just scroll down the list of voice mails and locate the message that you want to hear. Messages are clearly labeled by date and the name of the caller. Depending on your mobile carrier, the length of time that you can save your voice mail messages may be limited.

  • Tap on the green "Phone" icon on the home screen of your iPhone.

  • Tap the "Voicemail" icon, on the far right of the bottom toolbar.

  • Tap once on the name of the person who left you the voice mail. If the caller is not saved in your contact list, he will be represented by his phone number. Your voice mails are listed in chronological order, with the most recent messages displayed at the top of the screen.

  • Tap on the triangle immediately to the left of the name or phone number to play the message.
