How to Renew a DHCP License on a Mac
Renewing your DHCP lease is a simple troubleshooting method to fix issues with connecting to the Internet. DHCP, which stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, refers to the automatic configuration for your IP address, which your Mac automatically renews on a regular basis. If you can no longer connect to the Internet or if your Mac is mysteriously self-assigning an IP address -- these begin with prefixes such as 169 -- manually renewing your DHCP lease can often fix these problems.
