Cut out a a rectangle of fabric that is 15 inches wide and 70 inches long. Hem all of the raw edges of the fabric using the sewing machine. The top of the skirt should be hemmed in by about an inch to accommodate your hole punch later.

Glue the rick rack in a straight line along the bottom edge of the tree skirt. Add another line of rick rack near the top of the skirt under the hem line. Allow the glue to dry.

Use the hole punch to make a line of holes 1/4 inch inward from the top edge of the fabric. Make sure that you don't accidentally puncture any seams. The holes should be spaced about one inch apart. Lace the twine through the holes.

Drape the skirt around the bottom of your Christmas tree. Pull the twine tight to create slight creases in the front, then tie it in place. Arrange the extra folds of the fabric as you like to create a classy yet informal Western look for your tree.
