There are plenty of benefits to riding a chocobo across the Calm Lands in "Final Fantasy X." These giant birds allow you to quickly navigate the expansive area, eliminating the inconvenience of random battles. Chocobos are also necessary in accessing the secret entrance to Remiem Temple.
There's a chocobo trainer in the Calm Lands. By locating and speaking with her, you can obtain your own chocobo.
Locate the chocobo trainer. She will be atop a chocobo somewhere in the Calm Lands. Depending on how far you've progressed in the game, she can appear in a number of places. If it's your first visit, she will be in the northwest section. If you're entering from Mount Gagazet or directly from the airship, check the area south of the save point or near the entrance to Macalania Woods.
Speak with the trainer. Tell her you wish to train a chocobo.
Complete the first stage of the chocobo training, then quit the mini-game.
Speak with the chocobo trainer again. Tell her you wish to ride a chocobo. You will now have your own chocobo to use in the Calm Lands.
Tips & Warnings
- You can obtain rare items by completing the chocobo training mini-games.
- To gain access to Remiem Temple, ride your chocobo to the southern entrance of the Calm Lands. On the eastern side of the map, there's a feather on the ground. Examining it will cause your chocobo to jump to a new area.
