How to Synchronize Gmail With Outlook

Offered by Google, Gmail is a free online email service. Gmail offers downloadable applications to help you customize your Gmail account and add features. Synchronize Gmail with your Microsoft Outlook software using one of the free apps. Gmail's on-screen instructions make the process relatively simple, although the initial full synchronization may take up to 24 hours.

      Navigate to the Google Apps Marketplace. Download the free Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook.

      Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software on your computer. Begin by signing in to your Gmail account to allow the app to retrieve information from your account. Press "Continue."

      Create a user profile for Google Apps to use with Outlook. The software will automatically generate Outlook profiles it can read on your computer. Choose the correct profile from the drop-down list.

      Mark which items to synchronize, such as email, contacts and calendar.

      Click on "Create Profile." This will start importing your Outlook information.

      Open Outlook once the import is finished. Choose your Google Apps profile if Outlook prompts you to select a profile. The synchronization process will begin automatically.
