How to Pass Smoke Signals in

Smoke Signals is a series of missions in "Borderlands." The first part of this mission, titled Investigate Old Haven, starts when you accept it from Helena in New Haven. The second part, titled "Shut Them Down," starts when you reach Old Haven and examine the situation. To pass the series, you must switch off all smoke signals in the area. It is best to use corrosive weapons for this section because Old Haven is full of heavily armored enemies. These missions are suitable for characters who are Level 28 or above.

Instructions

      Go to the Rust Commons East area and follow your way point marker to the entrance of Old Haven.

      Enter Old Haven and press the "Use" key on the indicated pile of bodies. Click on the "Smoke Signals: Investigate Old Haven" option that appears to complete this part of the quest.

      Click "Smoke Signals: Shut Them Down" from the new menu that appears. Walk through the door into the open area.

      Equip corrosive weapons and a corrosive artifact if you have one. Look at the skyline and approach one of the columns of smoke in the area. Kill all enemies along the way.

      Approach the highlighted control panel next to the smoke signal and press the "Use" button to turn it off. Repeat this with the other three smoke signals in Old Haven.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shotguns are very useful against the enemies in Old Haven if you can get into close range. Move between the different pieces of cover available to get closer to enemies.

  • Take out the turrets that guard the smoke signals from a distance with a rocket launcher or corrosive bullets.
