How to Kill Diabolos in "Final Fantasy 12"

Diabolos has many incarnations in the Final Fantasy video game series, and in Final Fantasy XII, he is a mark for the party to track down and kill. He is a level 46 monster with 93,551 hit points, 999 mana points and several nasty tricks up his sleeves. For lower level parties, he is a tough boss, but with the right strategy, you can mark another creature off your Clan Primer.

Instructions

    • 1

Collect the petition from one of the taverns. The hunt number for Diabolos is 27.

    • 2

Speak to Miclio in Miner's End in the city of Bhujerba, who allows you to accept the hunt. Miclio gives you information about Diabolos, and then you begin the hunt.

    • 3

Enter the Lhusu Mines. Diabolos is located in Site 11 of the mine. After passing through the Oltam Span and Transit Way 1, walk through the Shunia Twinspan to reach Site 2 of the mine. Site 11 is in the bottom right part of Site 2.

    • 4

Attack Diabolos. He should be alone in the area. Begin by dispelling his Haste, casting Bubble on your party and keeping Esunaga ready to treat your allies with. Physical attacks work well on him, but anything that damages him quickly is acceptable. He absorbs fire spells, however, so avoid using those to attack him with.

    • 5

Kill him before his physical paling takes effect. A paling is a type of magical barrier that prevents you from damaging the target. If you do not kill him quickly enough, you have to wait for the paling to fade or swap to using magic to finish him off.

    • 6

Loot the corpse to receive your rewards. You gain 2600 gil, a demon shield and a Zeus mace for killing Diabolos.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must have completed the Antlion Infestation petition in the Lhusu Mines and gained the key for Site 11 before you can reach Diabolos.

  • Diabolos will begin to cast status effecting spells like Disease, Poison, Sap, Confuse and Curse as his HP gets low. Be ready to cast Esunaga to deal with these negative effects.
