Apple's iPod touch, a portable music player with a touchscreen display, is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 40 hours of audio playback and up to seven hours of video playback when fully charged. To conserve power, the iPod touch locks by default after a minute of not being used. If you want to use your iPod touch after it locks, you will need to unlock it. You might need to type a password, depending on how you've configured the device.

  • Press the "Home" button, located below the screen, or press the silver "Sleep/Wake" switch located at the top of the device.

  • Swipe a finger across the "Slide to Unlock" slider on the screen. The iPod touch unlocks.

  • Press the "Home" button or press the "Sleep/Wake" switch when you have enabled passcode protection on your iPod, then swipe a finger across the "Slide to Unlock" slider on the screen. The "Enter a Passcode" message appears. Type in your passcode, and then tap "OK." The iPod touch unlocks.
