How to Find an ESN Number on a Samsung Intensity

An Electronic Serial Number (ESN) is a unique identifier that your cellphone provider uses to identify your CDMA mobile phone. Once the available ESN numbers ran out, the industry began using Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID), which is what you will likely find on your Samsung Intensity. In order to activate your phone with the carrier, you will need to provide them with the ESN/MEID. Not only will they use the ESN/MEID to register your phone with the network, but they will also run a check to ensure the phone has not been reported stolen. This is often referred to as a "clean" ESN.

  • Turn off the phone.

  • Lift the top edge of the back cover and slide it toward the top to remove it.

  • Lift the bottom edge of the battery up and remove it from the bay. You should see a label in the battery compartment that contains the phone's ESN/MEID.
