Mickey Mouse is one of the most renowned icons of all time. His likeness is on mugs, crafts, tools, toys and clothes in department stores and toy stores alike. Kids enjoy dressing up as Mickey Mouse for Halloween or a children's party or event. Some costumes can be quite pricey, but you can always opt for a simple, handmade mask.
Things You'll Need
- 2 paper plates
- Colored pencils/crayons/poster paint
- Mickey Mouse reference picture
- Elastic bands
Draw a circle on a piece of paper. Make sure the size of your circle is large enough to cover your child's face. Add lines on the center as guides for facial features that you will draw later.
Use a picture of Mickey Mouse and the guidelines you drew earlier to draw Mickey's eyes and nose on the circle.
Draw Mickey's cheerful grin and his chin.
Make all necessary corrections and adjustments to your drawing, then color your drawing.
Cut out the entire image when you're done with your drawing. Make sure it's proportionate to the paper plate you're using.
Paste your fully rendered drawing of Mickey Mouse on the paper plate using glue. Let the glue dry.
Cut off the excess paper plate on the sides to define the shape of Mickey's face.
Take the second paper plate and cut out two circles for the ears. Make sure they are proportionate to the other pieces of the mask. Paint or color the two circles black and allow to dry. Attach ears to the mask using a stapler or adhesive.
Cut out holes for the eyes.
Staple one end of the elastic band to the mask in line with the eyes. Measure the elastic band to fit your child's head, and then staple the other end to the opposite side of the mask.
Tips & Warnings
- Mickey's eyes have a curve below them and his chin extends below the circle that is his head, so keep these things in mind when you're drawing him.
