Log into your Gmail account at gmail.com. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the window. Click the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP." Check the circle next to "Enable IMAP." This option allows Gmail to forward data to a mobile device.
You can synchronize Gmail and the BlackBerry Curve by enabling IMAP forwarding on your Gmail, then adding the email account to the phone memory. The BlackBerry Curve can also sync the Gmail calendar to the phone's internal calendar. Setting up synchronization only takes a few minutes to complete. The phone will begin transferring contact data immediately.
Press the dotted BlackBerry "Menu" button. Open the "Setup" application from the home screen. Select "Email Settings." Choose the "Add Email Account" option. Enter your Gmail email address and password into the designated fields. Select the "Save" button. The email account will now be highlighted on the "Email Settings" screen.
Press the "Menu" button again from the "Email Settings" screen. Select the "Edit" option. Scroll down and open the "Synchronization Options." Check the box next to "Contacts." Select the "Save" button.
