How to Set Up Developer Tools for Safari

Apple Safari is a Web browser included with every Apple computer. The browser has many features, including a search box in the tool bar, a pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing and private browsing. Apple Safari also has built-in developer tools that allow Web designers to test websites and ensure that they function properly. Because most users do not take advantage of the developer tools, developers who want to use the tools must enable them.

  • Open the Safari Web browser. Click on the "Action" menu, which looks like a gear and is located on the right side of the browser. From the Action menu, select "Preferences."

  • Click the "Advanced" tab in the Safari Preferences window.

  • Check the box next to "Show Developer menu in menu bar."

  • Close the Safari Preferences window.
