How to Sync a Cox Remote

As technology expands, so does the amount of devices we have in our home entertainment system collection. Having more electronic devices means having more remote controls. It's best to consolidate your remotes by using a Universal Remote. Universal remotes can be intimidating since you need to program them to work. Luckily, programming a Cox Universal Remote is done completely by pressing buttons on the remote control itself and only takes a minute to complete.

  • Turn on the device you are programming to the remote. From the remote, press the button of the device you are syncing to the remote, such as TV, DVD, VCR or Cable. Press and hold the "Setup" button until the device button blinks on the remote.

  • Enter the device code into the number pad of the remote. The code list is found on Page 11 of the Universal Remote Instructions on the Cox Support website.

  • Point the remote at the device and press the "Power" button. The device should turn off. If the device does not respond, the code you entered was invalid. In the case of an invalid code, start the process over using a different code form the code list.
