How to Disable Skype AutoStart

When you install certain programs on your computer, it is common for them to be configured to automatically boot up when you log in and minimize to the tray area of the Windows Start menu bar. This default setting is designed to make accessing the program convenient. You can prevent Skype from automatically loading when you sign in to your Windows operating system by adjusting the preferences within the application.

  • Open Skype.

  • Enter your Skype username and password and click "Sign In."

  • Click "Tools" located in the menu bar and select "Options."

  • Click the box next to "Start Skype When I Start Windows" under "General Settings" to remove the check and make the box empty.

  • Click the "Save" button.
