How to Force an iPhone to Sync

You must sync your iPhone through iTunes on a Mac or PC computer in order to transfer music, video, apps and other data. When configuring iTunes preferences, you can choose how iTunes should respond when an iPhone is connected. If you want to force your iPhone to sync with iTunes each time it is plugged in to your computer, you can enable the automatic syncing option.

Things You'll Need

  • iTunes 10 or later
  • iPhone USB cable
  • Open the iTunes application on your Mac or PC computer.

  • Go to the "iTunes" menu on a Mac or the "Edit" menu in Windows, and select "Preferences."

  • Navigate to the "Devices" tab at the top of the "Preferences" window.

  • Uncheck the box next to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads From Syncing Automatically."

  • Hit "OK" to save the settings and enable automatic syncing.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using an iPhone USB cable. When iTunes recognizes the device, it will automatically begin the syncing process.
