Dulce de leche is a sweet, decadent caramel made by reducing whole milk, sugar and vanilla to a thick caramel sauce. Dulce du Leche can be made at home or purchased from a grocery store. The franchise Starbucks has taken this sweet dessert to a new level with the introduction of the dulce du leche latte and frappuccino. While you could go to Starbucks for these sweet treats, it's easy and much cheaper to make at home with your stove and blender.
Things You'll Need
- Strong coffee or espresso
- Dulce du leche
- Whipped cream
- Crumb pie topping
Combine 2 oz. espresso with 1 tbsp. of sugar in a mug and stir until the sugar is dissolved. If you don't have espresso, use 1/4 cup very strong brewed coffee instead.

Add a squirt of whipped cream and sprinkle with crumb pie topping.
Brew 4 oz. of espresso and place it in the refrigerator to cool.
Combine 1/2 cups of ice, the espresso, 4 oz. of milk, 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. dulce du leche in the blender.
Cover and blend until smooth.
Pour into a cup and top with whipped cream and crumb pie topping.
