Zotero is an "add-on" in Firefox, meaning that is not native to the browser nor was it developed by Mozilla. Zotero supplements for shortcomings in Firefox, helping researchers organize information and collaborate with other colleagues via the Internet. However, the add-on might have shortcomings of its own for some users, because it might affect the performance of the browser, similar to how a third-party program might slow the performance of the operating system on a PC. If this is your experience while using Zotero, you can easily remove this add-on as easily as you installed it.
Open Firefox. Click "Tools" at the top of the browser window. Select "Add-Ons" from the menu, which opens the "Add-Ons" dialog box.
Click on the "Extensions" tab.
Click to highlight the "Zotero" add-on at the bottom of the list. Select the "Uninstall" button. Click the "Uninstall" button in the pop-up confirmation dialog box.
Tips & Warnings
- Temporarily remove "Zotero" from Firefox by clicking "Disable," instead of "Uninstall," in the "Add-Ons" dialog box.
- To uninstall the "standalone" version of "Zotero" from your PC, use the "Programs and Features" utility in Windows to remove the program from the operating system (see Resources).
