Save

The WAV or WAVE file extension is an audio file format created by IBM and Microsoft, and it has been in use since 1991. Web browsers still support this file format as it is still used online by some as a format to store audio. Mozilla Firefox can be configured to use certain applications for specific file formats. By adjusting the browser's settings, you can determine how it will handle the WAV file format.

  • Open Firefox.

  • Click "Tools" in the browser's menu and select "Options."

  • Click "Applications."

  • Type "wav" without the quotes in the search field.

  • Click the drop-down menu in the "Action" column for "Wave Sound (audio/wav)" and choose your preferred method for playing WAV files.

  • Click the drop-down menu in the "Action" column for "Wave Sound (audio/x-wav)" and choose your preferred method for playing WAV files.

  • Click the "OK" button to save the changes.
