How to Use a Remote Site on Filezilla

Use an FTP client to upload files to an existing website. An FTP client makes use of the FTP protocol. It is able to establish a direct and secure connection with an FTP server for the purpose of transferring and updating files between two computers. Use the free FTP client FileZilla to transfer files between your remote server and local computer.

      Open FileZilla.

      Go to "File," "Site Manager." The Site Manager window opens.

      Enter your FTP server information. Under the "General" tab, put in your: host name, server type and user authentication.

      Click the "Connect" button to access your remote FTP server files and folders. Your remote files should download under the "Remote site:" label, on the right pane of the FileZilla window. Your local computer files are listed under the "Local site:" label, on the left pane of the FileZilla window.

      Select files or directories on the "Remote site:" area and drag them to the "Local site:" area on your computer to download them, and vice versa to upload them.
