Instructions

  1. Make Face Paint

    • 1

      Set out three medium-sized bowls.

    • 2

In each bowl, mix together 1/2 tsp. cold cream, 1 tsp. water and 1 tsp. corn starch.

    • 3

Add a few drops of yellow food coloring to one bowl. Add more as needed until you achieve the shade of yellow you want.

    • 4

Add equal amounts of red, yellow and blue food coloring to a separate small bowl. Mix together to make black food coloring. You may need to add a bit more blue, depending on the strength of the food coloring. Add this mixture to the second bowl of face paint to make it black.

    • 5

Leave the third bowl of face paint white.

    Painting the Face Design

    • 6

Dip a large round makeup sponge into the white face paint. With eyes closed, press the sponge over the eyes, making two large white circles. These circles are the wings of the bee.

    • 7

With a paint brush, paint the nose yellow from the middle of the eyes, to the tip of the nose. Make the shape a long, thin oval, covering about two-thirds of each side of the nose.

    • 8

Paint a black circle in between the eyes. Take another paint brush and make a medium-sized black circle above the yellow nose and in between the white circles to make the bee's head.

    • 9

Draw two thin lines on the forehead, extending from the top of the bee head, for antennae. Top each antenna with a small round dot of red lipstick.

    • 10

Outline the white circles and the yellow nose with a thin line of black from a black eyeliner. Draw black stripes across the yellow nose to make the bee's body.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cover more of the face by enlarging the body, wings, and antennae.

  • Avoid getting paint in your child's eyes.
