How to Insert YouTube Into an Outlook Email

After you watch an interesting video on YouTube, you realize that your friend probably would want to watch it also. There's no need to call your friend and make her write down the YouTube video link and type it into her Web browser. You can copy the embed link from the YouTube site and paste it into an email message that you send to her with Microsoft Outlook. When your friend receives your email, she can click on the link and watch your recommended video.

  • Visit the YouTube website (

  • Click the video that you want to recommend to someone. The video starts playing in your Web browser.

  • Click the "Embed" button, which is located below the video.

  • Click the embed code. Click "File," and then click "Copy."

  • Launch Outlook and create a new email message addressed to your recipient.

  • Click "File" and then click "Paste" to insert the YouTube embed code into your email message.

  • Type a note that explains why you're recommending that the person check out the YouTube video. Microsoft Outlook generates email messages in HTML format by default, so your recipient may be able to click on the YouTube link to open the video in her browser. If your recipient's email application isn't set to display HTML messages, she will still be able to copy the YouTube link and paste it into her Web browser to watch the video. Click "Send" to send the email message.
