Instructions on How to Open Basement Windows
Basement windows provide extra light and ventilation in an area that can get damp and dusty. Even if you just use your basement for storage or laundry, being able to open the windows is a nice touch. Turn the crank on awning windows to open them. Awning windows open out so only the bottom of the window is really open. However, you can open awning windows even if it's raining.

Slide the lock to the open position or remove the bar from the side of a slider window. Pull the slider window so the glass slides over and opens.

Unlatch the top or bottom of a hopper window and push it out or pull it in to open it. If the hinges are on the inside, the window will open inward. If the hinges are on the outside, the window will open outward.
